On Record

On Record examines two sides of a family. One side is rich with home videos, rituals, memories—the other side is not. Juxtaposed side by side, the notion of how we forge our ideas of family is confronted. The film follows a father’s investigation into his missing history, in pursuit of a greater sense of community and belonging. Exploring ideas of post-memory and the role of home videos and logged archives, On Record challenges the conventions of “family” and its connection to construction, preservation, and imagination.
