The Yale Student Film Festival is proud to present a screening of Buddhist sci-fi mystery Karmalink with Producer Valerie Steinberg in person.  Synopsis: In a near future Phnom Penh, a community is threatened with eviction to make way for a bullet train service to China. The wealthy use nanotechnology to “augment” their experiences. At night, Leng Heng dreams of his previous lives and of a solid gold Buddha, which he is convinced will help prevent his family from being evicted. He and orphan street child Srey Leak begin a search for the Buddha in the hope it will protect their community.   Valerie Steinberg is a producer based in LA, Named one of Variety’s “10 Producers to Watch” in 2023, whose recent credits include Executive Producer of A24’s The Inspection (2022) (TIFF ‘22, Golden Globe nominee, three-time Indie Spirit and Gotham Award nominee), as well as EP of Riley Keough and Fina Fammell’s directorial debut War Pony (2022), which won the Caméra D’Or at the Cannes Film Festival ‘22.
