Bombina Bombast & Lost in Time present Slumberland
Bombina Bombast, an award-winning performing arts company from Sweeden, has partnered with Lost in Time, both pioneers in the field of live virtual reality (VR). In their premier VR production SLUMBERLAND audiences enter The Dome at Yale Schwarzman Center and are transported to a beautiful digital dream world.
In this participatory experience, audience members wear a supplied Meta Quest VR headset and interact with one another and with a live actor in the virtual space. The actor, wearing a motion capture suit and physically located in Sweden, guides the collective journey.
Audience members bear witness to stars containing the stories of earth’s sleepless youth, created from interviews with young adults about insomnia. They are free to wander through the subjects’ bedrooms, catch astral voices falling from the heavens, and explore new dimensions of connection that can only exist in virtual space.
SLUMBERLAND is an unparalleled hybrid of documentary audio, theater, game design, and immersive art. Together audience and actor create a place where the restless meet across space and time, between waking and sleeping.
